Intense Pulsed Light therapy (IPL) is a versatile, non-invasive procedure that uses broad-spectrum light to address a variety of skin concerns. It's particularly effective for treating brown spots, sun spots, redness, and spider veins, making it a go-to option for many of our clients looking to rejuvenate their complexion.

KMA IPL

how it works

PL therapy utilizes pulses of light to target specific pigments and structures within the skin. The light penetrates deep into the skin layers, where it is absorbed by melanin (the pigment responsible for brown spots) and hemoglobin (found in blood vessels). By delivering these light pulses, IPL breaks down the melanin and destroys the problematic blood vessels. As the damaged melanin is brought to the surface, it flakes off naturally, leading to a more even skin tone. The destroyed blood vessels are reabsorbed by the body, reducing redness and improving the overall appearance of your skin..

treatment area / most common uses

  • Brown Spots and Sun Spots: These are often caused by sun exposure and aging. IPL can diminish their appearance by targeting the excess pigment.

  • Redness: Whether from rosacea or general redness, IPL helps to reduce the appearance of blood vessels that contribute to a flushed look.

  • Spider Veins: Tiny, visible veins can be effectively treated with IPL, leading to clearer, more uniform skin.
Texture and Pore Size: By stimulating collagen production, IPL can enhance skin texture and reduce pore size.

  • Active Inflammatory Acne: IPL can also address acne by targeting the bacteria and reducing inflammation, leading to a clearer complexion.

what to expect

New patients will undergo a consultation with one of Kimiko Medical Aesthetic's specialists.  After an IPL treatment, you can expect some temporary redness and mild swelling in the treated areas, similar to a sunburn, which usually subsides within a few hours to a couple of days. You may also notice a slight darkening of brown spots or pigmentation as they come to the surface before flaking off.  You’ll start seeing noticeable improvements in your skin tone and texture within a few weeks as your skin continues to heal and rejuvenate.
