ABOUT PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP)

Treatments Starting at $450

Platelet Rich Plasma, also known as "PRP" is an injection or topical treatment whereby a person’s own blood is used. About 10-20ccs or about a teaspoon of blood is drawn up from the individual patient into a syringe. The blood is spun in a special centrifuge to separate its components (Red Blood Cells, Platelet Rich Plasma, Platelet Poor Plasma and Buffy Coat).  When PRP is injected into the skin or applied topically following a skin procedure, it causes a mild inflammation that triggers the healing cascade.

KMA PRP

how it works

As the platelets organize in the area of injections, they release a number of enzymes to promote healing and tissue responses including attracting stem cells and growth factors to repair the damaged area. As a result, new collagen begins to develop. As the collagen matures, it begins to shrink causing the tightening and strengthening of the skin. When treating injured or sun damaged tissue, they can induce a remodeling of the tissue to a healthier and younger state. PRP can be applied topically after microneedling and/or be injected into the skin.

PRP has been shown to have overall rejuvenating effects on the skin including: improving skin texture, thickness, fine lines and wrinkles; increasing volume via the increased production of collagen and elastin; and diminishing and improving the appearance of scars. PRP also improves the hair follicle to promote hair growth.

Generally a series of 3 treatments are recommended. However, more treatments may be necessary based on severity of treatment area. To maintain results, it is recommended to repeat treatment every 4-6 months.

what to expect

New patients will undergo a consultation with one of Kimiko Medical Aesthetic's specialists.  The area will be numbed using a topical numbing cream. The process is very tolerable and will take about 30 minutes.  After your injections, you may experience bruising, swelling, redness, and tenderness at the injection site that may last 24 - 48 hours. Icing the area will help improve these side effects. Before you leave, you will be given post-care instructions and we will schedule your next PRP treatment or follow up appointment to assess your results.
